Personal Budget Software

Personal Budget SoftwareNeed help finding quality personal budget software? How about a program that's both user friendly and makes budgeting fun? Oh, and you probably want it to be cheap too, right?

Not easy to find - I know! The search for this elusive software can be downright overwhelming and can leave you feeling discouraged and frustrated.

Lucky for you though I already found what you're looking for. It took me months of free trials, sifting through internet babble and sales copy on countless budgeting and personal finance sites to finally find personal budget software that ticked all the boxes on my wish list.

Its called YNAB (You Need A Budget). YNAB personal budget software is immensely powerful, yet easy to use and learn, it makes budgeting a snap and costs less than $60.

Here are a few points that sets YNAB personal budget software apart.

  • No learning curve - I felt totally comfortable with YNAB within minutes of installing it. By far the easiest personal budgeting application I've tested.
  • Free class coaching - I was completely blown away by the fact that they hold regular online classes for anyone who is interested in learning more about their software - free of charge. There is also one-on-one personal coaching for a fee available.
  • YNAB methodology - As if the software wasn't enough to blow your socks off add to that the YNAB methodology. What is the YNAB methodology? It's their proven, built in money management methodology, it has 4 basic rules - #1 Stop living paycheck to paycheck, #2 Give every dollar a job, #3 Prepare for rain and #4 Roll with the punches.
  • With you every step of the way - With YNAB personal budget software you can't help but feel they're with you every step of the way helping you achieve financial peace of mind.

Personal Budget SoftwareI whole heartedly recommend YNAB to anyone still on the hunt for personal budgeting software. It's well worth checking out, you'll be glad you did. Take it for a test drive and download the YNAB Free Trial now.

For a more detailed analysis be sure to read my YNAB review (coming soon).

Still on the fence about YNAB?

Still not sure if YNAB is for you? Here's what was on my wish list for personal budget software and eventually lead me to YNAB.

  • Free trial period - This isn't limited to just budgeting software but I would be leary of any application that doesn't offer a free trial. You have to wonder, why they don't want you to test their product before buying. Any worthwhile software vendor would jump at the chance to have you try out their product.
  • Money back guarantee - This should be another red flag, if they don't have one do not buy it. Any software vendor that does not offer a reasonable money back guarantee only cares about one thing - getting your money.
  • Transaction tracking - When considering personal budget software it should be able to connect to your financial institution and link multiple accounts. This allows the application to track transactions, either in real time or downloaded.
  • User-friendliness - The very best personal budget software will be powerful yet easy to use. Any application that you can test and get a handle in very little time is a definite keeper.
  • Convenient support options - Whenever you're testing out an application it's very important to test out their support options. Is support really available 24/7? Can you talk to a live person by phone or live chat? Do they respond to your emails in a timely manner?
  • Good training material/tutorials - If the documentation, tutorials or knowledge base for the personal budget software you're considering isn't much use to you then it's probably fair to say that the software won't be of much use to you either.
  • Feature-rich - Does the software have all the features you have come to expect in a budgeting application? Does it offer anything more that other programs do not?
  • Flexibility - The application should allow for some sort of customization or modification to the product out of the box. This will ensure the best possible fit for you.

If you've found personal budget software that meets half the criteria above - its better than most...If it meets 6 of the 8 criteria above - it's a definite keeper...But if it meets all the criteria above - it's called YNAB!

Happy budgeting!
